On 5th-6th October, 2017 Kiev hosted a scientific conference dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the State Expert Center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
The event gathered several hundred representatives of medical institutions, pharmaceutical companies, government employees and other representatives of the healthcare industry.
During the event, the participants discussed topical issues of registration and re-registration of medicines, pharmacovigilance, organization, conduct and monitoring of clinical trials in Ukraine, and the introduction of the basic principles of good regulatory practice.
Dmytro Aleshko, partner at Legal Alliance Company, was invited to act as a moderator of the section "Good Regulatory Practice".
Moreover, Dmytro Aleshko presented a report on strategic issues of pharmaceutical regulation of the National Policy on Medicines. Dmytro Aleshko spoke on the main tasks and objectives of the National Policy on Medicines and how to implement them, and also focused on the advantages and disadvantages of the National List of Essential Medicines.
Olexandra Oleshchuk, Head of the Expert Committee of the Ministry of Health for the Selection and Use of Essential Medicines, made a report on the principles and approaches to the formation of the National List of Essential Medicines. In turn, Volodymyr Grishkov, Head of the Anti-Corruption Section of the State Expert Centre of Ukraine, touched upon issues related to the conflict of interests of experts.
According to Dmytro Aleshko "The National Policy on Medicines can become a strategic document, in which the road map for Ukraine in this sphere will be approved for the next eight years. We expect the government to make a decision on this document in the coming weeks".
Both domestic market players and international experts of the WHO Regional Office for Europe and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development actively participated in the development of this strategically important document for the pharmaceutical sphere.
