On April 24th, 2017, Kiev hosted a meeting of representatives of the pharmaceutical industry dedicated to the new edition of the National List of Essential Medicines.
The event was organized by the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine, Association of Pharmaceutical Research and Development and US-Ukrainian Business Council to assess the impact of new regulation on the system of medical care and operation of health care facilities in Ukraine, as well as the possible consequences for patients and the pharmaceutical market of Ukraine.
Uliana Suprun, Acting Minister of Health of Ukraine, Roman Ilyk, Deputy Minister of Health of Ukraine, Oleksandra Oleshchuk, Chairman of the Expert Committee on the Selection and Use of Essential Medicines, Algirdas Šemeta, Business Ombudsman, Hugues Mingarelli, Head of EU Delegation to Ukraine and Marte Everard, Head of the Delegation of the World Health Organization in Ukraine were invited to attend the meeting.
Dmytro Aleshko, partner and head of Pharmaceutical Regulatory Practice of Legal Alliance Company, took part in the discussion at the request of organizers. It should be noted that under the supervision of Mr. Aleshko, a team of lawyers prepared and supported approval process of package of regulations to introduce an updated National List of Essential Medicines based on regulations of the WHO.
In his speech Dmytro Aleshko noted: "Ukraine has no choice but to create the National List of Essential Medicines in accordance with European standards. No matter how painful this way is, it will provide a lot of Ukrainian access to essential medicines. "
The event focused on the transformation of Ukraine's intellectual property sector on its path toward European integration.
