On June 25, 2014 the Ministry of Health of Ukraine published for public comment the draft order of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine "On Approval of the Changes in the Procedure for Calculating the Maximum Level of Wholesale Prices for Medicinal Products for the Treatment of Patients with Essential Hypertension and Comparative (Reference) Prices for Such Products" (hereinafter - Draft).
Thus, the update of the registry of prices for medicinal products shall be undertaken annually as of June 1 of the current year:
For domestic products – provided that for the previous calendar month the producer price index for pharmaceutical preparations and materials changes (according to the State Statistics Service of Ukraine), calculation will be made by the following formula:
Updated MLoWP = previous MLoWP x Price Index / 100,
where MLoWP stands for "maximum level of wholesale prices".
For foreign-made products – provided that for the previous calendar month official exchange rate of Hryvnia against foreign currencies changes (according to the National Bank of Ukraine), calculation will be made by the following formula:
Updated MLoWP = previous MLoWP x average OERoH / basic OERoH,
where OERoH stands for "official exchange rate of Hryvnia".
Supplementing registry of prices for medicinal products with new items, changing the place of the medicinal products in the reimbursement groups and recalculation of MLoWP based on the above mentioned formulas shall be made quarterly prior to the 20th day of the first month of the next quarter (January 20, April 20, July 20, October 20) and are published on the official website of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
