The Polish Investment and Trade Agency (Polska Agencja Inwestycji i Handlu) is implementing a number of activities to prepare Polish businesses for the resumption of exports and the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine.
On March 15, 2023, the Agency orgaised industry consultations addressed to entrepreneurs from the medical and pharma sectors. The event was held in two studios: the Ukrainian - at the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Kyiv, the Polish studio - at the Information Center of the Agency in Warsaw. The focus of the discussion was the medical and pharmaceutical industry: current situation, prospects, investment potential, financial instruments to support investments and export of goods and services, etc.
Representatives of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Ukraine, the Ministry of Development and Technology of Poland, the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on National Health, Medical Aid and Medical Insurance, the State Medical Service on Medicines and Drugs Control, the Union of Ukrainian Entrepreneurs, the Association of Drug Manufacturers of Ukraine, the banking sector of Poland, as well as business representatives from Poland and Ukraine joined the discussion on tendencies of the industry and specific needs for its the after-war-recovery.
Dmytro Aleshko, managing partner of the Legal Alliance Law Firm, spoke about prospects in the pharmaceutical industry of Ukraine. In particular, he focused the attention of the participants on the regulatory aspects of such issues as: centralized procurement, the procedure for state registration of medicinal products, good manufacturing practice, health technology assessment , managed entry agreements, e-prescriptions, and reimbursement amjng others. Particular attention was paid to the regulation of medical devices and options of doing business in Ukraine.
"In one panel with representatives of the Parliament, the Ministry of Health, the State Medical Service on Medicines and Drugs Control, and the Pharma Committee of the Union of Ukrainian Entrepreneurs, together we spoke at the Embassy of Poland in Ukraine to Polish companies that are considering the possibility of investing in Ukraine after the end of the war. This teleсonference demonstrated a strong interest in Ukraine on the part of European companies. We need to do our
homework now - fight against corruption, build an independent judicial
system, and complete reforms in law enforcement agencies." - commented Dmytro.
The event focused on the transformation of Ukraine's intellectual property sector on its path toward European integration.
