Future, Domain Names and Protection From Porn-revenge. Vitalii Savchuk Made a Speech on It Law Conference

On May 5th-6th Kharkiv hosted IT law conference organized by Kharkiv Center of ELSA (European Law Students Association). The school united experts from all over Ukraine who shared with students and each other latest trends in the profession.

Event participants modelled situations in which business challenges are solved with the help of near future tools. Neural networks, protection of personal data, artificial intelligence, e-commerce, cyber security, cryptocurrency transaction taxation were discussed during the weekend.

Vitalii Savchuk, senior associate at Legal Alliance Company, who was invited as a speaker, told the students about competition between artificial intelligence and real one, domain disputes on examples of Google, Nissan and VW.

Besides, Vitalii told about how the USA and Europe develop a new area of law – protection from porn revenge, a situation when a person posts intimate photos of another person without his awareness and consent on specialized websites intentionally causing damage to reputation of the latter. The new practice promoted adoption of specialized legislation, and the fines prescribed by courts in 2018 reached several millions of dollars for a case. An effective way to fight porn revenge is copyright protection.

“IT is always about the future, and students also”, commented Vitalii. “The audience at such events is very interesting and demanding. People are always ready to discuss, ask, doubt, make noise. We were glad to make noise.”
