Natalia Spivak, senior associate, and Khrystyna Demchenko, associate at Legal Alliance Company, spoke at webinar “Tuberculosis and Human Rights”. The event took place on November 30th, 2018 and was initiated by UNDP within the partnership “Stop Tuberculosis”. Natalia Spivak and Khrystyna Demchenko as members of expert group on preparation of UNDP report “Assessment of Legal Environment Regarding Tuberculosis in Ukraine” made their speech based on the report file. During the online seminar issues of observing human rights and legal barriers for people suffering from tuberculosis were considered, also recommendations on possible ways of improving state policy in the area of prevention, treatment and reducing consequences of this disease were presented. Attendees of the webinar received knowledge on countering discrimination and non-discriminatory treatment of people with tuberculosis and/or who are in high risk of it. The webinar was attended by representatives of law enforcement agencies, non-government organizations and human rights activities who work in the public healthcare sector.
