On 9-11 September 2014 was held the XXII International scientific and practical conference "Topical Issues of Intellectual Property". The event was organized by the State Intellectual Property Service of Ukraine, the World Intellectual Property Organization and the Ukrainian Institute of Industrial Property.
The conference program was very rich and included a number of relevant and meaningful issues.
During the session "Obtainment and protection of the rights to the OPS during adaptation of the national legal framework to the EU standards" the Advisor of the Legal Alliance Company Natalia Lavrenova made a presentation on the topic: "Peculiarities of preservation and protection of intellectual property rights in the pharmaceutical field". Natalia told about the consequences of the patent collapse in the pharmaceutical industry and global trends in the protection of rights on medicinal products. The report revealed the possibility of protecting the rights on medicinal products, particularly the choice of the name of the medicinal products and trademarks for them, the specific of marketing struggles, the expected changes in the pharmaceutical area connected with the signing of the Association with the European Union, as well as the recommendations addressed to manufacturers of pharmaceutical products.
In addition, the conference dealt with information technology, copyright and related rights, industrial property objects during the adaptation of the legal framework to EU standards, the international experience of the use of intellectual property, ways to improve the judicial system in the context of the harmonization with the EU legislation.
The event focused on the transformation of Ukraine's intellectual property sector on its path toward European integration.
