Reference pricing: the draft List of medicines is announced

On May 31, 2019, two draft orders concerning the introduction of reference pricing of medicines were published on the website of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. In particular, these draft orders propose to approve:

• The procedure for the formation of the List of medicines included in the National List of Essential Medicines and for which wholesale prices are set (hereinafter referred to as the List);
• The procedure for calculating the maximum wholesale prices for medicines covered by the List;
• the List itself, which is formed based on INN, release forms and dosages (24 INNs in total).

Recall that these documents were developed in pursuance of the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of April 3, 2019 No. 426 “On Reference Pricing for Certain Medicines procured using budget funds”.

According to this regulation, the state regulation of prices for some INNs included in the National List of Essential Medicines will be introduced when they are procured for budget funds, starting from July 1, 2019.
