On February 16th, 2018 in Rivne a round table "What Awaits Criminal Proceedings in 2018?" dedicated to discussing the main changes in the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine took place. The event was organized by the Bar Association of Ukraine Unit in the Rivne Region, the Criminal Law and Procedure Committee of the Bar Association of Ukraine and the Council of Advocates of the Rivne Region.
During the discussion, the participants highlighted the problems and shortcomings of the novelties of the Code of Criminal Procedure, as well as exchanged experience, in particular with regard to appealing notices of suspicion and defense tactics, taking into account changes made to the Code of Criminal Procedure and new search procedures.
Legal Alliance Company was represented at the event by Taras Bezpalyу, cousel and advocate, speaking on the topic "Possibility to Challenge Notice of Suspicion".
In his speech, Mr. Taras Bezpalyу noted that the current Code of Criminal Procedure of Ukraine, according to the majority of lawyers, prescribes no appeal of notice of suspicion (by March 16, 2018). At the same time, the advocate pointed to his personally positive practical experience in canceling a notice of suspicion and shared with the present advocates information how the defense side can act to cancel a notice of suspicion.
