Taras Bezpalyy, attorney and counsel at Legal Alliance Company, takes part in an open competition for membership in new Civil Oversight Council at the NABU.
The Civil Oversight Council is composed of 15 persons selected upon the competition, and ensures transparency and civil oversight over activities of the Bureau. Its composition is renewed annually. The main task of the Civil Oversight Council is to carry civil oversight over NABU activities and promote NABU’s cooperation with civil unions and other civil society entities in the area of anticorruption.
Taras Bezpalyy has been practicing for more than 15 years specializing in the area of criminal defence. Being a criminal attorney with extensive experience, Mr. Bezpalyi has helped a lot of customers to return seized property for millions of hryvnias and protected a lot of companies from illegal intervention by law enforcement agencies. Mr. Bezpalyi protected Maidan participants and provides assistance to ATO warriors, in particular, by visiting the 12th battalion and delivering necessary things as a volunteer. Taras Bezpalyy has been nominated to the Civil Oversight Council by the Bar Association of Ukraine, the active member of which he has been for many years.
“I believe that detectives have done a lot and will do more. My task as a member of the Civil Oversight Council at the NABU is not to let wrong persons join the NABU and ensure proper civil oversight over the current detectives”, Mr. Bezpalyy says.
The elections to the Civil Oversight Council at the NABU will be by open Internet voting which will take place on May 30th, 2018 from 09:00 a.m. will 09:00 p.m. on nabu.gov.ua/voting. Results of the voting and composition of the newly elected Council will be published on June 6th, 2018.
