On March 15th – 16th, 2018 Kyiv hosted a workshop “Novelties of the Criminal Procedure Code 2018 and protection of business at searches” organized by the Centre of Counselling Services.
The event was dedicated to legal analysis of changes to the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and issues related to criminal proceedings. The conference gathered leading legal experts on issues of business protection.
Legal Alliance Company was presented at the workshop by Taras Bezpalyy, counsel and advocate, who in his speech shared information on legal mechanisms of business protection, tactics during investigative actions conducted at an anterprise and inspections within criminal proceedings.
“Some of the significant changes to the effective Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine are obligation of an investigator at any stage of search to let an advocate engage, compulsory video recording of the search and prohibition to disclose investigative secret without written consent of the investigator. Moreover material changes regarding terms of pre-trial investigation, prohibition of doubling cases of the same background to exert pressure on business, were made. Defence was granted a right to appeal against notice of suspicion, which greately expands right to defence” – commented Mr. Bezpalyy.
The event focused on the transformation of Ukraine's intellectual property sector on its path toward European integration.
