The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted the Law "On Technical Regulations and Conformity Assessment», dated 15.01.2015 № 124-VIII (hereinafter - the "Law № 124"). The Law № 124 will come into effect on February 10, 2016.
This Law aims to consolidate in a single legal act unified legal and organizational frameworks in the field of technical regulation. In addition, the issue of development, adoption and application of technical regulations and conformity assessment procedures, as well as the assessment of compliance of the new Law № 124 with the main provisions of the Agreement on technical barriers to trade of unified legal and organizational principles of technical regulation, which is obligatory for Ukraine as for member of the World Trade Organization.
The adoption of the Law № 124 eliminated numerous duplications and contradictions that now exist in the current legal acts in the field of technical regulations.
Recall that today the legal and organizational frameworks in the field of adoption and application of technical regulations and conformity assessment procedures are regulated by several legal acts of different legal force, including Laws of Ukraine "On Conformity Assessment", "On Standards, Technical Regulations and Conformity Assessment Procedures" and Decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, dated 10.05.1993 № 46-93, "On standardization and certification".
