The Draft Law No. 2873 dated 15 May 2015 "On Amendments to the Art.216 of the Civil Procedure Code of Ukraine with respect to clarifying the investigative jurisdiction of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine" was passed at first reading.
Based on the provisions of the Law of Ukraine "On the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine" adopted on 14 October 2014" (effective since 25 January 2015) that stipulates the legal basis for organization and activities of the specialized law enforcement anti-corruption body, the competence of conducting preliminary inquiries into corruption crimes committed by high level officials authorized to perform functions of the state or the local self-government, or posing significant threat to the society, shall be referred to the authority of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau.
The Draft Law provides for the amendments to the norms of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine which shall authorize investigators of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine to conduct preliminary inquiries into crimes related to submitting false information by public officials.
In case this law is approved it shall come into legal force on the next day following its publication.
