Ukrainian Parliament Offers to Extend the Law of Ukraine “On Corruption Prevention” to Tax and Revenues Agencies Employees

Draft Law № 2496а “On the Introduction of Amendments to Customs Code of Ukraine in relation to Adoption of the Law of Ukraine “On Corruption Prevention” has been submitted for consideration of Verkhovna Rada.

The abovementioned Draft Law provides for implementation of the requirements into Ukrainian Customs Code on special checks conduct in cases established by the Law of Ukraine “On Corruption Prevention” during the employment of tax and revenue bodies staff, as well as obliges to inform tax and revenue bodies leadership on employed connected persons.

The relevance of these adjustments result from the absence of such requirements in the current version of Customs Code.

Also, the Draft Law includes provisions on unification of Customs Code terminology within the text of the Law of Ukraine “On Corruption Prevention” which leads to a common approach and procedures application of anti-corruption mechanisms designated by the Law of Ukraine “On Corruption Prevention”.

In case Verkhovna Rada implements the suggested changes, they would take effect on the date following the Law publication date.
