On February 11th-12th Kiev hosted VII School on Intellectual Property Rights, which was organized by the Students’ League of Ukrainian Bar Association.
The event was attended by law students of 2-6 years of study. Throughout the weekend the participants learned experience from leading lawyers practising intellectual property law.
Vitalii Savchuk, senior associate of Legal Alliance Company, spoke at the event and told law students about management and protection of IP-portfolio in business.
During his speech Mr. Savchuk noted that it is important for a student to understand well in advance what problems he/she will have to deal with often, and what will remain just fascinating (at best) elements of the university program. "I made a short overview of the most interesting and urgent cases my colleagues and I dealt with in 2016, and discussed them with the audience. It was interesting to talk about trademarks, patents and domain names exclusively from a practical point of view; only about things for which customers will be hiring young lawyers in the future"-summed up Vitalii.
The event focused on the transformation of Ukraine's intellectual property sector on its path toward European integration.
