On April 1st, 2017 the state program “Affordable Medicines” was launched in Ukraine to reimburse the cost of medicinal products for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases, bronchial asthma and diabetes of type II.
Experts of pharmaceutical regulatory practice and rulemaking of Legal Alliance Company are among the leading national and international experts who contributed to the launch of the drug reimbursement program.
The program has already demonstrated the first results. According to Kyiv City Administration, during the first week of the program’s operation in Kyiv about 11,000 packages of drugs have been sold.
Dmytro Aleshko, partner at Legal Alliance, commented “The positive experience of implementing the program for drugs for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases, bronchial asthma and diabetes of type II will mean that in the future the program may cover other nosologies also”.
Let us remind you that medicines and pharmacies take part in the reimbursement program voluntarily. For the time being, the state program of reimbursement involves 157 medicinal products, with 23 fully paid by the state. The process of pharmacies joining this pilot project is ongoing.
