The pharmaceutical market is always in the focus of attention of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine (AMCU) due to its social importance. A number of specific features of this market add additional challenges. First and foremost, there are many products (medicines) on the market that are difficult to replace, meaning that their producers may potentially occupy a monopoly (dominant) position. In addition, the Committee tends to narrow the product boundaries of the medicines markets to such an extent that there are more conditional "monopolists" among drug manufacturers than those who do not risk obtaining such a status.
