On September 5th, 2017 Kiev hosted interactive seminar “100 Troubled Dismissals: Threats and Consequences”, which was organized by Legal Alliance Company with the support of HeadHunter, Rabota.UA, Pharma-Personnel, MediaPro Publishing House, All-Ukrainian HR Association, HR - League, magazines “Human Resources Manager” and “HR-Manager Handbook”.
The seminar was attended by 40 professionals from HR sector, representing the pharmaceutical industry and FMCG.
Illya Kostin, Partner at Legal Alliance Company, senior associates Lidiya Sangarovskaya and Iryna Shlyakhovska, who have significant experience in the field of labor law, as well as invited experts - Iryna Britska, Marketing Director of HeadHunter, and Andrii Anuchin, Director of specialized consulting agency "Pharma Personnel", spoke at the event.
Participants of the event discussed changes in and trends of dismissal of top and middle managers, as well as the associated legal risks, consequences and changes in labor legislation.
Lydiya Sangarovskaya during her presentation “Experience in Arranging Dismissal of Senior Staff” drew attention to the key issues that should be taken into account, and the negative consequences that may arise in connection with the dismissal of senior staff. Lidiya noted: "When a senior employee is dismissed, it is necessary to work out not only the proper legal grounds and related documents, but also to think over the real situations that may arise, including the sudden illness of the employee being dismissed, opposition by colleagues loyal to him, restrictions or even suspension of economic activities of the company”.
Illya Kostin, moderator of the event, invited the participants to discuss troubled dismissals based on examples from the world's cinematography. In his speech, Mr. Kostin highlighted the reasons why dismissals become troubled and also dwelled on the typical mistakes that managers make while dismissing an employee.
“On behalf of the organizers, I express special gratitude to the participants of today's event," he stressed.
The highlight of the workshop was the intellectual game “Dismiss me if you can", which followed Illya Kostin’s speech. During the game, the participants were able to take part in the staging of dismissal and consolidate the acquired skills in a complex negotiation process with an equally qualified opponent.
In their blocks, Andrii Anuchin and Iryna Britska talked about the popular services that companies use to dismiss personnel in a correct way, the role of training projects and outplacement for HR brand of the company, as well as other ways to optimize staff.
Report of Iryna Shlyakhovska, dedicated to novellas of the draft Labor Code of Ukraine, which deal with dismissals of employees, finished the event. Iryna stressed that only this section takes more than 80 pages of the currently available comparative table of the draft, and called on to prepare for the forthcoming labor reform seriously.
The event focused on the transformation of Ukraine's intellectual property sector on its path toward European integration.
